FAQ’s About
Orthodontic Treatment
FAQs can clarify recurring important questions in advance and help you decide on treatment at American Orthodontist. If you have any further questions, or if anything is not fully clarified, please do not hesitate to contact me by getting in touch.
How much does the treatment cost and how will I pay for it?
In the first visit I present the total price of your orthodontic treatment. It depends on the complexity of the case and the type of device to be used, consequently each patient will have a different budget. It is important that you know that it is a guaranteed fixed cost with everything included. It includes all the appliances that you use during the treatment, including the temporary and final retainers. No tricks and no surprises.
The services are not taxed, therefore VAT forms are not necessary. The prices are in EURO.
We are a TRICARE preferred provider. We will prepare insurance claims for patients with all other insurances that accept the US CDT code system. We offer payment plans.
How many times will I go to appointments?
Your time is very important and I respect it. I optimize treatment time, therefore we carry out efficient treatments. Once the treatment has started, you should go to periodic check-ups every 4-10 weeks. In some cases we can even extend appointments up to 3 or 4 months depending on the device you wear (e.g. aligners), this is especially important for patients who reside outside of the local area or patients who study or work abroad.
I can give you appointments several months in advance so that you can schedule your calendar in the most comfortable way possible.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
The duration of the treatment will depend on each case, the type of device and the collaboration. Although there are treatments that can last between 6 and 12 months, generally the duration will be between 15 and 24 months.
To give you a more detailed account of the procedure, I wrote a blog post!
Will the result be stable when time elapses?
It is especially essential to maintain the results obtained with the treatment over time. The stability of orthodontic results over time is as important as the orthodontic treatment itself. Therefore it is not only achieved a beautiful smile and a stable occlusion, but also we want these results to last a long time, as an investment for life.
Consequently, once the treatment is finished, retainers will be given. There are two commonly used types of retainers: fixed lingual retainers or removable retainers. In the latter case, patients receive extra particularly durable thermoformed retainer.
I will inform you and decide which is the best for your case, always taking into account aesthetics and comfort.
What is the difference between Invisalign® and Direct Aligner®?
Traditional Invisalign type aligners are made of a non-stretchable, rigid material. In contrast, the flexible direct aligners have a so-called shape memory. The movement of the teeth is gentler and less painful. Therefore, fewer aligners are needed to achieve the same result.
Invisalign type aligners are made by a thermoforming process from a model. Direct aligners are so named because they are produced directly on 3D printers in just one step with high precision.
The flexibility of direct 3D printing allows the treatment to be easily combined with traditional methods and new methods such as the use of pressure points to rotate teeth.
